CTL on schedule to complete Orion refurbishment program

CTL are well on track to complete the refurbishment program of our two Orion horizontal machining centres, with the majority of the work completed at CTL Stockport.

Both these machines have proved their reliability, strength and accuracy over many years of continuous day and night working. They are especially suitable for CTL as they pack a high work envelope capability into an industry leading small shop floor footprint.

Our twin pallet Orion is the first to be completely mechanically and electrically refurbished with new electrics and the latest GE Fanuc 31i Digital CNC Control. To be immediately followed by our 6 pallet Orion Machine.

As well as bringing this machine up to date with controls drives and motors, the latest up rated safety systems and remotely operated CCTV camera system will give the operators an increased level of viewing in a super safe high visibility environment. The Renishaw probing system will also be replaced with latest classification. Leader CNC Technologies Ltd of Nuneaton will carry out this extensive program for CTL. The first machine is expected to be handed over for production in early March 2012.
