The next-generation of Nuclear Fleet Submarines, Astute is the largest, most advanced and most formidable vessel of its kind ever operated by the Royal Navy. The class sets a new standard for the Royal Nay in terms of weapons load, communication facilities, stealth and crew comfort.
Built by BAE Systems Submarine Solutions at Barrow-in-Furness, seven Astute class boats will be constructed. The first of class, Astute, was launched in 2007 and commissioned in 2010, and the second, Ambush, was launched on 6 January 2011. The third, Artful, is currently under construction.
CTL have been involved in supplying various strategic components for Rolls Royce and Babcocks on Astute.

CTL has also been involved with the manufacturing of over 350 sets of L/H and R/H of the main fitting undercarriages for the Eurofighter/Typhoon programme.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is the world’s most advanced new generation Multi-Role/Swing-Role combat aircraft available on the market. It has been designed and built by a consortium of three companies: EADS, Alenia Aeronautica and BAE Systems. With 700 aircraft ordered by six nations (Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Austria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), and in service with all nations, the aircraft is Europe’s Largest Military Collaborative Programme.
Chosen by Messier Dowty, the Eurofighter/ Typhoon programme is an ongoing project for CTL.
